Although he hasn't been asked, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he wouldn't want the former President Donald Trump VP job, as he doesn't "think my marriage would survive it."
The Independent candidate for president was floated as a possibility of being a potential Trump running mate by Variety at the Los Angeles premiere of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which stars Kennedy's wife, actress Cheryl Hines.
"I think he's right," was Ms. Hines' reply.
Although there have been varying reports circulating that RFK Jr, might be a dark-horse running mate for Trump, the Trump team pushed back on the very notion of a Trump/Kennedy Jr. ticket.
When reached for comment, the Trump campaign responded with political strategist Chris LaCivita's post on X, "This is 100% FAKE NEWS - NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK jr (or ever will) - one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country. For all the fake news- update your stories."
While Kennedy is out, the list of potential Trump VP candidates circulating include South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, New York congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Trump's former White House secretary and current Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Ben Carson, Trump's former Housing and Urban Development secretary.
One name that likely won't make the short list is Trump's last remaining GOP rival, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Haley ruled out being Trump's running mate on Jan. 19, saying being anybody's vice president was "off the table."
While initially finding appeal among conservatives and independents for his skepticism on vaccine efficacy, Kennedy's candidacy is seen as more likely to syphon votes more from President Joe Biden than from Trump. After announcing his campaign in April last year, Mr. Kennedy switched from running in the Democrat primary to being an independent candidate in October.
