Billionaire Elon Musk said just 3% of journalists are Republicans, writing on X, Sunday, that it is "borderline illegal in newsrooms to be a Republican journalist."
Musk included an image from a Gallup study published in 2022 that found that just 7% of Americans have a "great deal" of trust and confidence in the media while 27% have a "fair amount."
But 38% said they had no trust at all, marking the first time that the percentage of Americans with no trust at all in the media was higher than the percentage with a great deal or a fair amount combined.
Musk in his post said the legacy media "is written by the FAR LEFT."
He also hailed his platform's push to keep news outlets more honest.
"Community Notes and rebuttals by users on this platform are the biggest factor pushing the legacy media to be less deceptive," he wrote in another post. "To hold legacy media accountable for lies, it is super important to send links from X to friends who aren't yet on this platform."
Musk has long questioned the value of the "legacy media," which refers to traditional forms of mass communication that have been established for a significant period, such as newspapers, television, and radio.
