More than 1,100 employees with the Environmental Protection Agency this week received a warning that their employment could be terminated, reported CNN.
“As a probationary/trial period employee, the agency has a right to immediately terminate you pursuant to 5 CFR § 315.804,” the email said. It claimed that the termination would occur immediately upon the employee receiving notice.
“Each employee’s status will be determined individually,” the email added.
The report comes a day after the Trump administration dismissed members of the EPA’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee and Science Advisory Board.
“A decision has been made to reset the Science Advisory Board and Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee and reestablish its current membership,” then-acting Administrator James Payne said in a Tuesday evening email that was obtained by The Hill on Thursday.
“This action emphasizes the importance of SAB and CASAC to EPA’s mission of protecting human health and the environment,” Payne added.
