California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom was confronted by a woman on Thursday about the lack of water in fire hydrants that has hindered the state's response to the massive wildfires throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding locale.
In a Sky News video shared by The Post Millennial, a woman wearing a mask spots Newsom on the street by his black SUV and hurries over to speak to him.
"Governor, you got a second?" the woman asks. "Governor, governor, I live here governor. That was my daughter's school."
"Please tell me what you're gonna do," she says, telling Newsom's security staff, "I'm not gonna hurt him, I promise."
Newsom, wearing aviator-style sunglasses, points to his phone and tells her that he's "literally talking to the president right now to specifically answer the question of what we can do for you and your daughter."
"Can I hear it?" she asks. "Can I hear your call? 'Cause I don't believe it."
Newsom then tells the woman that he's "tried five times" to place the call and that's why he was "walking around to make the call."
"Why is the president not taking your call?" she asks.
Newsom responds that the call isn't going through and he has to find cell service, to which the woman replies, "Then let's get it. I want to be here when you call the president."
After Newsom tries to reassure the woman of his concern for her family, she then asks, "Why was there no water in the hydrants, governor?"
"Is it going to be different next time?" she asks.
"It has to be," Newsom says. "Of course."
She then asks Newsom what he's going to do "to fill the hydrants," adding, "I would fill them up personally, you know that."
After asking him if he would fill the hydrants personally, the woman then pushes back on Newsom's answer that he's doing everything he can.
"But you're not!" she says. "Do you know there's water dripping over there governor? There's water coming out there. You can use it."
It was unclear from the video what water the woman was referring to.
Newsom then says he's going to make the call to the president and climbs into his waiting SUV to leave as the woman asks for his contact information.
President-elect Donald Trump has blamed Newsom for the devastating wildfires that have burned tens of thousands of acres since Tuesday and claimed at least five lives so far. On Thursday, he called for the governor's resignation and said, in a Truth Social post, that Newsom "should immediately" release water from Northern California to aid his "dry burning state."
