The U.S. military's ability to wage war has been weakened by the Biden administration's experiment with woke initiatives, such as promoting diversity and equity, according to a GOP report released Monday by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Rep. Chip Roy, the Daily Mail reported.
The two Republicans said in the report that "our military's singular purpose is to "provide for the common defense" of our nation, emphasizing that "it cannot be turned into a left-wing social experiment. It cannot be used as a cudgel against America itself."
The report stressed that "the world is a dangerous place, and the Biden Administration's insanity is eroding our greatest source of security in it," saying that the military "cannot be paralyzed by fear of offending the sensibilities of Ivy League faculty lounges or progressive pundits."
The GOP report describes how the armed forces have devoted resources to dealing with extremism in the ranks, training personnel in the use of pronouns, permitting service members to transition gender, and promoting anti-white views by promoting critical race theory.
Rubio said these initiatives distract the armed forces from their main purpose.
"Rather than making the case for American greatness and protecting our nation, the military is parroting woke nonsense," Rubio said in a statement. "It's dumb, it doesn't work, and it's dangerous. We need to spend more time thinking about how to counter Chinese aircraft carriers and less time thinking about pronouns."
Roy emphasized in a press release that "the Department of Defense's priority should be training the men and women of our Armed Forces to be a united, lethal, and battle-ready force primed to defend the United States and her interests at a moment's notice.
"Instead, Biden's woke Pentagon is using taxpayer dollars to promote blatant anti-American ideology. It has to stop. We need to end this politicization of our military and keep our Armed Forces focused on defending our national security."
The Pentagon has rejected such criticism, insisting that it does not teach critical race theory and that instead it concentrates on trying to get rid of extremism among recruits, according to the Daily Mail.
