Rep. Greg Steube has filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, accusing him of "high crimes and misdemeanors" and commenting that "it's long past time" to impeach him.
"He has undermined the integrity of his office, brought disrepute on the presidency, betrayed his trust as president, and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice at the expense of America's citizens," the Florida Republican said in a statement after filing the articles on Friday, according to The Hill.
The articles accuse Biden of fraud, obstruction of justice, and bribery stemming from allegations of illegal business dealings and tax crimes.
Steube, referencing Hunter Biden's laptop, told Newsmax's "Rob Schmitt Tonight" on Thursday that he planned to file the articles the following day "for bribery, for extortion, obstruction of justice, fraud, financial involvement in drugs, and prostitution."
He told guest host David Harris Jr. that "We have all the facts and evidence now. In the beginning of this Congress, Republicans wanted to make sure that we did the investigations, that we got the information before the American people… you have witness testimony, you have financial records, you have the laptop, you have text messages, you have phone conversations."
Steube has endorsed former President Donald Trump in his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination and joined him and other House representatives from Florida at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, where he drew cheers while speaking out for Trump when he announced that he was first to file the articles of impeachment against Biden.
While endorsing Trump in April, Steube said the former president is the only person who will be able to fix "the disastrous policies of the Biden administration."
"He's widely supported in my district, widely supported in Florida and I'm honored to add my endorsement to the long list of endorsements for President Trump," Steube said in his endorsement announcement.
