The Health and Human Services website was among multiple federal health sites that went down and were at times inaccessible Thursday morning.
The sites experienced glitches amid the Trump administration's communications freeze on agencies and their websites until they could be approved by a presidential appointee. The HHS website was back online by 10:30 a.m. ET, Bloomberg reported.
It's unclear if the outage was related to the order given by HHS acting secretary Dorothy Fink on Jan. 21 to halt routine work related to the website, according to the report.
HHS nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is awaiting a confirmation vote from the Senate.
Other sites, including healthit.gov and npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov, experienced outages Thursday.
Some web pages for the Centers for Disease Control reappeared after outages last week, NPR reported Thursday. The CDC scrubbed or edited thousands of references to transgender people, LGBTQ+ health, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from its website in compliance with an Office of Personnel Management directive.
Among the pages removed were HIV testing guidelines for transgender people, recommendations for HIV medication, and resources on LGBTQ+ youth health.
The CDC's vaccine advisory page was also taken down Friday, and when it returned Saturday, references to the mpox (monkeypox) vaccine were missing.
