Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of more than 3,500 criminal illegal aliens in Houston, Texas, during the six-week government shutdown.
The agency noted that many of those taken into custody included pedophiles, gang members, and murderers.
“ICE officers are facing a 1,000% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats, but they refuse to bend the knee to threats of violence and lies from sanctuary activists and the mainstream media,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
ICE and other law-enforcement agencies put the final number of arrests at 3,593 criminal illegal aliens, described by the Department of Homeland Security as the “worst of the worst.”
Among those arrested were Leo Michel Acosta Sanchez, a Mexican national wanted on an Interpol Red Notice for aggravated intentional homicide, and Selvin Joel Lara Diaz, a 35-year-old previously deported child predator and Mexican Mafia gang member convicted of raping and impregnating his minor sister.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we have the most secure border in American history, and the days of illegal aliens breaking America’s laws with impunity are OVER,” McLaughlin added.
