Judge Approves Trump Request to Attend Son's Graduation

The presiding judge in Donald Trump's business records trial in New York has given the former president permission to attend his youngest son's high school graduation after all.

Judge Juan Merchan two weeks ago delayed his decision about whether Trump could attend son Barron's graduation next month.

"I don't think the May 17 date is a problem," Merchan said Tuesday, according to multiple media outlets covering the trial.

It is unclear if the business records trial would pause May 17, a Friday, or if it will continue minus the former president.

Barron Trump, 18, attends a private high school near Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, according to The New York Times.

Merchan incurred the wrath of Trump when he delayed ruling on his request April 15, the first day of the trial.

"I was looking forward to that graduation with his mother and father there," Trump told reporters then. "It looks like the judge isn't going to allow me to escape this scam. It's a scam trial."

Merchan did, however, prevent Trump from attending oral arguments last week at the Supreme Court regarding his presidential immunity claims.

Trump is on trial in Manhattan for 34 counts of falsifying business records. Trump is charged for an alleged crime of calling $130,000 payment to attorney Michael Cohen a legal expense.

Cohen allegedly had paid that amount to former porn star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence about a sexual encounter she claims she had with Trump in 2006.
