Pollster Nate Silver: Harris Has Upper Hand on Trump

By    |   Friday, 27 September 2024 04:33 PM EDT

Pollster Nate Silver said Vice President Kamala Harris has the upper hand over former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, The Hill reported.

"A lot of polling since our last update, and the model mostly liked it for Harris — especially the national polls, which show her lead expanding to an even 3 points," Silver wrote in a post published Friday.

"The one place where she's had a string of bad polls is Arizona, but it has only a 5% chance of being the tipping-point state. The forecast is still in toss-up range, but we're getting to the point where we'd say we'd rather have Harris' hand to play."

Harris has gained momentum since last week in national polls, 49.1% to 46.1%, and in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, and Nevada, according to Silver's averages.

Trump has gained points in North Carolina, Minnesota and Texas, according to Silver.

"Needless to say, stranger things have happened than a candidate who was behind in the polls winning," Silver wrote. "And in America's polarized political climate, most elections are close and a candidate is rarely out of the running."
