Katie Miller, a Department of Government Efficiency representative, left the White House to work for tech mogul Elon Musk, CNN reported Thursday, citing three sources.
One of the sources told CNN that Miller is working for Musk "full time," while another said she has been setting up interviews that are unrelated to his time at the helm of DOGE. Musk, who serves as the CEO of SpaceX, has spoken with CBS News, Ars Technica, and The Washington Post this week about the launch of the company's Starship.
Like Musk, Miller was a special government employee, a designation that allows private sector individuals to perform work for the federal government, with limitations on how many days each year can be spent doing government work.
Miller's exit follows Musk's departure from DOGE and the White House, which came one day after criticizing the "big, beautiful" budget bill currently making its way through Congress. President Donald Trump has pushed for the tax cuts and spending package, identifying it as the underpinning of his second term legislative agenda.
During an interview with CBS, Musk described the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as a "massive spending bill" that adds to the federal deficit and undermines the cost-cutting work of DOGE.
"I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful," Musk said. "But I don't know if it could be both."
Musk posted about his decision to leave government on his social media platform X on Wednesday.
"As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending," Musk wrote. "The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government."
Miller is married to deputy White House chief of staff Stephen Miller.
Newsmax reached out to the White House for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
