Rubio Campaign Releases Three New Ads Before Debate

By    |   Tuesday, 18 October 2022 11:15 AM EDT

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and his campaign are introducing three new ad spots before Tuesday night's debate, designed to showcase how the senator has helped Floridians, according to Florida Politics.

Grateful constituents share their firsthand experience of Rubio's "work to get things done for Florida" in the ads, according to a press release from his campaign.

"Marco Rubio gets things done for Florida," Communications Director Elizabeth Gregory told Florida Politics. "He's a tireless fighter for this state and the only candidate in this race who has delivered result after result for the people of Florida. Meanwhile, Val Demings has not authored a single bill that has become law. In three weeks, Floridians are going to re-elect Marco Rubio to the United States Senate."

Though Rubio has made an effort to contrast his legislative record with that of Demings throughout the campaign, the new ads don't make any mention of the Orlando Democrat or her House record.

In "Gwen and Vera," two survivors of Hurricane Michael in 2018 sit at the dining room table drinking coffee as they discuss Rubio's actions on their behalf.

"He's the only one who came to our rescue. … Sen. Rubio's helping us was the answer to our prayers," the ladies say.

The mother of a cancer survivor is featured in "Nothing," where she credits Rubio with saving her daughter's life.

"We're so grateful that Marco Rubio wrote the law to expand treatment for childhood cancer," a woman named Lisa says. "Thanks to Marco, more help and more treatment are coming for families like ours."

And in "Everglades," Capt. Jimmy and Capt. Mike contend that Rubio helped claw back federal resources to combat red tide and algal blooms.

"How me and my group typically think of politicians, is they're full of s***," Capt. Jimmy says. "But Sen. Rubio has been awesome for us guides down here."

Rubio and Demings will take to the stage for their only debate Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to NBC 6.

The "Before You Vote" debate will be held at Palm Beach State College's Lake Worth campus and WPBF 25 anchor Todd McDermott is scheduled to moderate.
