O.J. Simpson Fighting Cancer, Denies Hospice Rumors

By    |   Friday, 09 February 2024 04:02 PM EST

O.J. Simpson, the former NFL player and Hall of Fame running back famously acquitted of murder charges in 1995, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is presently undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas, according to recent reports, said The Daily Mail.

Contrary to claims suggesting he was in hospice care, Simpson, 76, took to social media to refute those rumors while avoiding mention of his cancer treatment.

In a video shared with his 870,000 followers on social media platform X, Simpson addressed the speculation, stating, "Hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice," before chuckling. "I don't know who put that out there ... like The Donald [Trump] say, you can't trust the media! In any event, I'm hosting a ton of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas, and all is well."

Simpson's legal history, notably his trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, captivated global attention during the mid-1990s. Despite his acquittal, he later faced a civil court verdict holding him liable for their deaths, resulting in a substantial financial penalty.

Moreover, Simpson encountered legal troubles in 2008 when he received a lengthy prison sentence for armed robbery in Nevada, ultimately serving nine years before being granted parole in 2017.

Recently, Simpson's appearance sparked concern as he was observed looking frail in Las Vegas, where he resides. His health challenges were compounded by his use of a cane during his previous incarceration for theft of sports memorabilia.

Additionally, Simpson made headlines for his unexpected remarks during a podcast appearance, where he weighed in on the topic of men opening up to women. Responding to NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal's comments on the matter, Simpson advised against confession, quipping, "No man, don't confess. I think he's right. Don't say nothing — leave me out of the confession."
