A majority of voters are unhappy with President Joe Biden's performance regarding historic inflation, a historic immigration influx, and a jobs market that for the last year has plummeted – a Harvard/Harris poll showed.
But he also showed improvements in most areas from last month's poll.
The online poll of 2,116 registered voters, conducted from Oct. 18-19, showed that inflation was the top concern at 32%, followed closely by immigration (27%), and the economy and jobs market (24%). The poll had a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points.
Only 40% of those polled strongly or somewhat approved of Biden's handling of inflation, but it was a jump of 5 percentage points over September's poll. Also, 41% strongly or somewhat approved of his handling of the economy, up 3 percentage points from last month, and 49% rated him on stimulating job growth, up 3 points from last month.
Biden's weakest metric was immigration, where 39% strongly or somewhat approved of his performance. Still, it was up 3 points from September. His overall job approval was 44%, up 2 percentage points from September. Those who somewhat or strongly disapproved of his performance was 53%, down 1 point from September.
In a head-to-head matchup with former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, Biden trails Trump 46%-41%; Trump led 44%-40% in September. When voters who lean in one direction for a particular party are considered, Trump led Biden 52%-48%.
