Mothers on TikTok are pushing one another to stop posting videos with their young girls as concerns over pedophilia on the site grow, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
The movement started when a user, Jacquelyn Eleanor, noticed that videos featuring her daughter Wren, 3, received excessive saves and strange, sometimes cryptic comments from anonymous users.
One user spotted that a video of the toddler wearing a cropped shirt was saved more than 45,000 times, with another featuring her eating a hot dog was saved nearly 350,000 times, per the Mail.
As time passed, some mothers accused Jacquelyn of knowingly exposing Wren to internet predators for sponsorship deals from large brands. The group has since shared videos with hashtags like #savewren and #protectthechildren.
The storm of confusion and anger from mothers has led to other parents taking down pictures and videos of themselves featuring their young children.
"I just saw the posts on TikTok and was absolutely appalled by the story and had decided that I needed to protect my daughter," Makayla Musick told Fox News. "Wren's story brought a lot of light to all the sick people in the world, so I decided to remove my own daughter's photos from anyone who is not close family/close friends.
"My duty as her mother is to protect her from things like this. I took the initiative to remove her photos before anything like Wren's situation could happen to my own daughter."
Jacquelyn Eleanor's account, which boasts more than 17 million followers, appears to be still hosting videos featuring her daughter on the platform.
