New RNC Ad Encourages Early Voting

By    |   Wednesday, 23 August 2023 04:31 PM EDT

A new advertisement from the Republican National Committee encourages GOP primary voters to cast their ballots through absentee and other early voting methods in 2024.

The ad, slated to air Wednesday night during the RNC's presidential primary debates on Fox News, shows some Republican presidential candidates and lawmakers supporting the "Bank Your Vote" campaign.

Among the notable appearances are former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla.

"Go to BankYourVote.com to sign up and commit to voting early," Trump says.

"And please, take the pledge to bank your vote to beat [President Joe] Biden," Cruz adds.

The RNC also informed The Hill that it plans to host a booth amid the debate at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee to hand out fact sheets on early and absentee voting.

Watch parties hosted nationwide by local RNC chapters will also feature the hand-outs.

The campaign is largely centered around removing the stigma attached to early voting that many Republican voters developed in and around the 2020 election, The Hill said.

A 2020 analysis from The New York Times estimated that early voting heavily favored Democrats in almost every state that year, including GOP strongholds like Kansas and swing states like Pennsylvania.

Trump's support for the early voting campaign is notable, given his refusal to participate in the RNC's first debate and past statements sympathetic to popular Republican skepticism of the early voting process.

However, Trump announced that he backed the RNC's "Bank Your Vote" campaign in July via a Twitter video eventually used in the party's latest ad.

"We must defeat the far-left at their own game, or our country will never recover from this disastrous, crooked Biden administration," Trump said at the time.

Trump has opted for an interview with Tucker Carlson to be aired simultaneously with the RNC debate instead of attending it, he confirmed Wednesday on Truth Social.

The debate and Trump's interview are scheduled for 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
