Sen. Ron Johnson Calls for Hearings on 9/11

By    |   Tuesday, 22 April 2025 03:31 PM EDT

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said he wants to hold hearings on the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

While appearing on Benny Johnson's podcast on Monday, Johnson said one of the buildings near the World Trade Center was brought down via a "controlled demolition," a rallying cry of 9/11 conspiracy theorists.

"My guess is there's an awful lot being covered up, in terms of what the American government knows about 9/11," Johnson said. "With this administration, I think President Trump should have some interest, being a New Yorker himself."

Johnson chairs the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, part of the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.

An investigation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology said debris from the collapse of the twin towers caused fires to start in building seven, leading to the building's eventual collapse. A CIA outpost was housed in the building. Johnson dismissed that investigation as corrupt.

"What actually happened on 9/11? What do we know? What is being covered up?" he said. "My guess is there's an awful lot being covered up in terms of what the American government knows about 9/11."

Johnson's office told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that a hearing would depend on what information or documentation they obtain.

The senator acknowledged on the podcast that some people consider him a conspiracy theorist.

"But that's how they keep things covered up," he said.
