President Donald Trump on Saturday amplified a fiery Newsmax monologue by host Greg Kelly, calling it "a must watch" as Kelly accused several Democrat members of Congress of encouraging "sedition" and endangering Trump after the 2024 assassination attempt.
"Thank you to Greg Kelly, of Newsmax, for this wonderful piece on sedition — A MUST WATCH!" Trump wrote on Truth Social shortly after it aired.
In the segment from "Greg Kelly This Week" on Saturday evening, Kelly rebuked Democrat lawmakers who were effectively urging members of the U.S. military and intelligence community to defy Trump, describing their video message about refusing "illegal orders" as a call for "deep state revolution."
He argued their rhetoric helped create the climate that led to Trump being shot.
Kelly repeatedly asserted that Democrats and former military officials had "weaponized" political discourse and were "hiding behind the Constitution," accusing them of misrepresenting its limits to undermine Trump.
He also said "sedition" amounted to behavior "punishable by death" under existing statutes, though he insisted Trump was merely "pointing out" the legal penalties rather than calling for executions.
The monologue sharply criticized Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., and others featured in the lawmakers' video, alleging they were encouraging unrest within the military by suggesting troops could refuse illegal orders.
Kelly argued such guidance was inflammatory, dangerous, and risked destabilizing civilian control of the armed forces.
Trump's endorsement of the clip comes amid heightened partisan clashes over national security, loyalty within government institutions, and political violence following the attempt on his life.
