Biden Camp Criticized for Comparing Trump to Hitler

By    |   Wednesday, 20 December 2023 08:13 PM EST

President Joe Biden's campaign is under fire for posting a graphic comparing former President Donald Trump to notorious World War II-era German leader Adolf Hitler on Wednesday.

The X account Biden-Harris HQ, which Politico reported is run by the campaign, posted the graphic titled "Trump Parrots Hitler" in all caps, replete with supposedly comparable quotes between the two.

"'We will root out' my political opponents that 'live like vermin' within our country," the campaign falsely attributed to Trump, comparing it with quotes of Hitler calling Jewish people "vermin," "pests," and in need of "extermination."

Another side-by-side incorrectly accuses Trump of saying that immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country," despite the quote exclusively referring to illegal migrants flooding through the southern border.

The Hitler comment used in comparison focuses on Trump's use of the "blood of our country," claiming that it is similar and aligns with the former dictator's views of superior and inferior races.

"This is not a coincidence," the Biden campaign stated alongside the graphic, which was later reposted by the Democratic National Committee War Room account.

Some former Trump administration officials and conservative politicians were quick to call out the Biden campaign's decision to invoke Hitler, which was once a political no-go zone.

"This is rank antisemitism from the Biden campaign," said former Trump adviser Stephen Miller, who is himself Jewish. "This kind of sadistic, demented smear minimizes and diminishes the Holocaust and the Nazi Genocide," he posted on X. "These people are truly sick and filled with hate."

Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio previously called out the tactic on Tuesday, when Vice President Kamala Harris first hinted that Trump's rhetoric was close to Hitler while speaking on MSNBC.

"It's absurd. I think this is ridiculous — to assume he's talking about immigrants as Adolf Hitler talked about Jews is preposterous," Vance told reporters. "You all need to wake up!"
