President Donald Trump set an inaugural fundraising record with more than $239 million this year.
In a filing Sunday with the Federal Election Commission, the Trump inaugural committee raised enough money to surpass the previous record of nearly $107 million for the president's 2017 inauguration.
The nearly $240 million blew away the amount President Joe Biden raised in 2021, when the former vice president raked in nearly $62 million for his inauguration. At the time, the country was still dealing with concerns about COVID-19.
The Colorado-based food company Pilgrim's Pride, by giving $5 million, accounted for the largest contribution to the Trump inaugural committee, according to the FEC filing.
Cryptocurrency firm Ripple Labs donated nearly $4.9 million, while crypto trading app Robinhood donated $2 million.
Arkansas financier Warren Stephens, Trump's pick to serve as U.S. ambassador to the U.K., donated $4 million.
Jared Isaacman, a billionaire businessman awaiting Senate confirmation to head NASA, and Melissa Argyros, Trump's pick as U.S. envoy to Latvia, each gave $2 million.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon gave $1 million, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave $250,000.
A source previously indicated to CNN that excess donations are expected to be directed toward Trump's presidential library, for which he has begun to collect sums.
Inaugural committees are barred from accepting foreign contributions, but there are no legal limits on the size of donations that these nonprofit committees can receive, CNN reported.
