President Donald Trump praised Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and border czar Tom Homan in Truth Social posts, hailing them as central to his administration’s border crackdown and law-and-order push and defending Noem against growing criticism in connection with federal law enforcement efforts in Minnesota.
"The Radical Left Lunatics, Insurrectionists, Agitators, and Thugs, are going after Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, because she is a woman, and has done a really GREAT JOB!" Trump said in a post Friday night.
He also credited her with bringing about the dramatic improvements at the border and in public safety that have taken place since his second term in office began a year ago.
"The Border disaster that I inherited is fixed," Trump wrote, adding that "the violent criminals that were allowed into our Country through Sleepy Joe’s 'sick' Open Border Policy, are largely gone, or being strongly sought for purposes of removal."
Trump also claimed the U.S. murder rate "just reached the lowest level in history, 125 years," and said Washington, D.C., "is now one of the safest cities in America," while "numerous other once very dangerous cities" have also improved.
He urged Republicans not to be "push[ed] around," accused Democrats of stealing "Billions of Dollars from Minnesota," and said they were using protests as a "SCAM" to "obfuscate, camouflage, and hide their CRIMINAL ACTS of theft and insurrection."
"They should all be in jail," Trump wrote, adding that he was elected on "Strong Borders, and Law and Order."
The posts come as Noem has been criticized over her handling of recent deadly shootings in Minnesota involving federal immigration officers and her management of disaster funding under the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which she oversees.
Lawmakers and officials from both political parties have called for her to resign, and some have threatened impeachment proceedings.
After Alex Pretti was fatally shot by DHS agents in Minneapolis last Saturday, Noem compared the victim to a "domestic terrorist" and said he was "brandishing" a gun during the incident.
She made similar comments about Renee Good after she was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis earlier this month.
Trump ended his Noem post by thanking her and underscoring the stakes of the election.
"Thank you to Secretary Kristi Noem," he wrote. "Remember, ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!!"
Trump also offered a separate burst of praise for Homan, calling him "one of a kind," and saying he is doing a "FANTASTIC JOB."
