Rep. Spartz Declines Committee Posts to Focus on DOGE

By    |   Tuesday, 17 December 2024 01:25 PM EST

Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., announced she will not be serving on any committees in the next Congress.

Spartz said she will not sit on committees or participate in the Republican caucus until she sees that the Republican leadership in Congress is governing.

"As a serious legislator and finance professional, not a clown, I am not going to continue being involved in circuses," Spartz said.

Warning the country is on a fiscal collision course, Spartz said she wants to work with the Department of Government Efficiency, the advisory commission overseen by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, designed to help cut wasteful government spending.

"I will be working hard doing real work for the people I represent — not presentations in committees for the lobbyists, spectacles and posts on Facebook and X to raise money," Spartz said. "The swamp will be back in business in four years if not drained through the law. Congress cannot fail President Trump and the American people again."

Many Republicans were confused by her decision, Politico said, but others believe the move is related to the House GOP Steering Committee not giving her a coveted post on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Several Republicans told Politico they were happy she was boycotting conference meetings, since she talks too much.
