Could multimillionaire entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy have a role in Donald Trump's administration should the former president win in November?
The former Republican presidential candidate said he was weighing all his future options, including continuing in public service, The Hill reported Wednesday.
Ramaswamy has been mentioned as a candidate for governor in Ohio in 2026 because incumbent Republican Gov. Mike DeWine is term-limited. Ramaswamy could also replace Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, Trump's running mate, if they are elected, leaving a vacancy for DeWine to fill.
"Governor is something that people are pushing me for a lot in Ohio, and how could I not consider it?" Ramaswamy told the "Maintaining with Tyrus" podcast set to air Sunday. "But also, there's J.D. Vance, a Senate seat that's now open in my home state in Ohio, and I think that's something that a lot of people have really pushed me to consider."
Ramaswamy, who said he talks regularly with the former president, said he could see himself serving in his administration.
"And President Trump and I have had great conversations about doing something substantial, not small, but maybe a couple roles that could be really big roles in the Cabinet of the new administration," Ramaswamy said.
Ramaswamy said there are pros and cons to each job, and he is weighing his options. Anything he chooses will have "high impact," Ramaswamy said.
The Trump campaign did not respond to an immediate request for comment.
