Dershowitz to Newsmax: Bondi Massacre Was 'Globalization of the Intifada'

By    |   Saturday, 20 December 2025 12:06 PM EST

Professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz warned on Newsmax on Saturday that the "globalization of the intifada" is fueling antisemitic violence worldwide.

Dershowitz argued on "Saturday Report" that political rhetoric and government actions are helping normalize hostility toward Jews and embolden disturbed extremists.

Dershowitz made the comments while discussing the mass killing in Bondi Beach, Australia, during the first night of Hanukkah, which he described as a stark example of antisemitism spreading beyond the Middle East and into Western societies.

He criticized international leaders who have moved to recognize Palestinian statehood in the aftermath of major terror attacks, contending that such decisions send a dangerous message that violence will be rewarded and can inspire copycat attacks.

"And so I think the blame for this squarely lies with the prime minister of Australia, the prime minister of Canada, the prime minister of France and others and people like [New York City Mayor-elect Zohran] Mamdani, who would immediately recognize a Palestinian state and refuse to condemn, globalize the intifada. What we saw in Australia was the globalization of the intifada," Dershowitz said.

He also argued that antisemitism has increasingly been normalized in public discourse, saying slogans and calls to "globalize" protest movements have real-world consequences, particularly for unstable individuals.

As a secondary issue, Dershowitz dismissed proposals focused on gun buybacks, arguing they do little to stop ideologically driven killers.

He said determined attackers will find weapons through illegal channels and suggested that failures in enforcement and broader policy choices, not simply the number of legally owned firearms, drive these targeted crimes.
