Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax on Monday that just as Poland was complicit in the Holocaust, the country is once again an accomplice to the International Criminal Court's "outrageous" arrest warrant of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Dershowitz joined "The Chris Salcedo Show" to react to Poland's adherence to the ICC's arrest warrant of Netanyahu should he try to attend the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on Jan. 27.
"It's outrageous. And everybody should boycott that event. Israel should boycott it. The United States should boycott it. ... Instead, Israel should have a commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the release," Dershowitz said. "Let's remember what Poland did. It played such a major role in the Holocaust. So many Polish people refused to help the Jews and turned them in. There were very good Poles. There were some excellent people, but Cardinal [Jozef] Glemp and some of the others in Poland played a major role.
He added, "So Poland has something to hide and something to be ashamed of. And the last thing they should do is threaten to arrest the elected prime minister of the only democracy in the Middle East that certainly has never engaged in genocide or anything like it."
"It's a scandal, and Poland is participating in it, and no American should accept that," Dershowitz told Salcedo.
Meanwhile, Dershowitz said the ICC was silent as Christians have been disappearing from the Middle East and while exiled Syrian Bashar al-Assad killed hundreds of thousands before his recent ouster. For example, 85% of Christians have left Syria since 2011.
"[T]he ICC is a bigoted court consisting of judges from countries that are anti-American, anti-western, and many of them anti-Christian," Dershowitz said. "By the way, the Christian population in cities that are controlled by Hamas or the Palestinian Authority have virtually disappeared.
"You know, we're celebrating the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, but there are no Christians left in Bethlehem. There are very few Christians left in Nazareth. There are very few Christians left in other places, particularly in Gaza," he added. "In countries controlled by Hamas or Hezbollah, Christians have been discriminated against and subject to horrible, horrible mistreatment.
"But the ICC didn't even go after Assad, who killed hundreds of thousands of people. We've just discovered a grave with over a thousand dead bodies. But Assad could walk free. He can walk into Geneva tomorrow, and he wouldn't be arrested. But Benjamin Netanyahu can't go to the anniversary of where a million Jews were killed, of six million, at Auschwitz itself."
