Judge Napolitano to Newsmax: Voters Need Faith in Elections

By    |   Monday, 01 April 2024 08:25 PM EDT

Former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano told Newsmax on Monday that Americans are "sick and tired" of losing faith in democracy, adding that elections need to be fair and "must be perceived of being fair."

Napolitano, a senior judicial analyst for Newsmax, joined "Carl Higbie FRONTLINE" to discuss the election integrity efforts of former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee while Democrats fear-monger about election results they won't accept.

"The other side will use whatever means they can to disparage a victory with which they disagree, or to bring about an end result that they want, no matter what means they use," Napolitano told Higbie. "I suppose if Donald Trump is reelected by a landslide — and it appears now that he will be — there will be no legitimate argument that can be made."

"The election must not only be fair, it must be perceived as being fair in order that the winner has the moral standing to govern," he added.

Napolitano said states will be shoring up processes to elections in the coming months.

"People are sick and tired of not having faith in democracy," Napolitano said. "And even states like Wisconsin, which is a bellwether state … are realizing we can't have outsiders come in here, whether it's Mark Zuckerberg — and I'm not picking on him, because he did donate money to these nongovernmental organizations that came in and ran elections for people. We're not gonna have outsiders come in and donate money to groups that are going to run our elections.

"We're gonna have neutral people in the government, both Republicans and Democrats, equal numbers of both, monitor the elections and count the ballots. And then people will have faith in the outcome," the judge added. "But the more challenges there are, the more the human heart goes toward what is right and wrong as opposed to the end result that they want.

"So, you're going to see a lot more of this at the state level between now and November."
