Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., told Newsmax on Tuesday that he's "cautiously optimistic" former President Donald Trump can win Arizona, noting that "the border really is the number one issue" for voters in the Grand Canyon State.
Biggs said on "Wake Up America" that early voting numbers in Arizona are "a good sign for Republicans up and down the ticket" on Election Day, adding that "the border really is the number one issue" in Arizona, a state that Trump lost to President Joe Biden by just over 10,000 votes in 2020.
He said, "I know people talk inflation and economy, but Arizona has been particularly hard hit because we're a transit point, a stop-through point for a period of time, for literally millions of illegal aliens crossing every year."
Biggs continued, "So we get the issue and we understand it very clearly. And so my constituents, when I go out in the Arizonans that I talk to about this, they know Donald Trump is going to get in and he's got policies and he's going to put in place that are going to work to stop this massive influx of illegal aliens."
The congressman said that Arizonans "want this fixed" and "they believe Donald Trump is the one, and they know that we can't take four more years of [Vice President] Kamala Harris opening up our border and letting Arizona be kind of a highway for drug, sex, and human trafficking, particularly the child trafficking that's going on here."
