Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., told Newsmax on Thursday that Republicans “will hold the majority” in the House of Representatives once the full tally is available, though he noted that several races are still too close to call.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Associated Press projected that Republicans have won 206 seats in the next House of Representatives, with Democrats having won 192 and 38 races still uncalled. Either party must win at least 218 seats in order to hold a majority in the lower chamber.
When asked on “Wake Up America” if the GOP will retain the majority in the House, Harris said, “I think they will, but there are too many races still left to call where it's possible that the Democrats could win the majority.”
According to The New York Times, Democrats hold the lead in 20 of the 38 races still too close to call.
Harris said, “I think the most likely scenario is that we hold the majority by a few seats. It's going to be a very narrow majority, but we will hold the majority.”
