Rep. Cline to Newsmax: Biden Impeachment Inquiry 'Proper'

By    |   Friday, 08 September 2023 10:32 AM EDT

Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., told Newsmax on Friday that he supports an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

"I think that an impeachment inquiry is the proper road to go down, because this story is so big and it affects current policy," Cline said on "Wake Up America." "We have to get to the bottom of where the money went. When Hunter Biden talks about half of his paycheck going to his dad, that's a big story. So why can't we get answers from this administration?"

Cline was critical of some in the media, who he said have underreported the business deals between the Biden family and foreign entities.

"They are focused on Donald Trump all the time," Cline said of the unnamed media outlets. "They won't talk about it when it's a member of their own party or family member.

"This is one of the biggest stories in many, many years. The idea that a sitting president and his family are engaged in a giant corruption scheme — a pay-to-play operation with agents or businesses affiliated with foreign adversaries.

"The story is immense, and it's not just about Hunter Biden and his laptop. It's about the entire Biden family and how they are profiting off of the American people, the taxpayers, and foreign governments."

Cline also ripped Biden for his economic policies.

"'Bidenomics' is the worst thing for the American family and the worst thing for American businesses that we've seen in some time," Cline said. "We need to stop the road that we're on right now. And that's why we're having these budget negotiations, because we can't continue the Biden-Pelosi budget that was passed during the lame-duck session last December.

"And these continuing resolution talks or just trying to kick the can down the road on the conversation that we have got to have in Congress about reining in wasteful spending and ending the woke and weaponized government.

"The bunker campaign worked four years ago for Joe Biden. They're probably going to try that again. Keep him off camera, keep him from making the gaffes that he makes when he's on camera, and just try and roll out people to talk for him about what a 'great' job 'Bidenomics' is doing for the American people, and trying to essentially sell them on a product that they have rejected."
