Bernie Kerik to Newsmax: Trump Faces Inauguration Day Threat

By    |   Thursday, 16 January 2025 05:08 PM EST

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik told Newsmax Thursday that although there is no "specific threat" against President-elect Donald Trump, "the threat is real" going into Inauguration Day.

The Telegraph reported that Trump will be protected by 7,800 soldiers and nearly 25,000 police officers as well as two FBI field offices, a fleet of drones, and over 30 miles of fencing as he takes the oath of office.

Kerik said it's important to keep in mind there were no active threats on the day Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"The bottom line is they have to be prepared, and the only way to do that is be preemptive and proactive at every security measure possible," Kerik said during an appearance on "The Chris Salcedo Show."

"And given the history of the threats against him, you know, there has to be an increased and enhanced coverage by the Secret Service and other agencies."
