Rep. Mike Johnson will be a "tremendous addition" as House speaker, Rep. Beth Van Duyne predicted on Newsmax before Wednesday's full vote.
"He's got a great legal mind," the Texas Republican said on "Newsline" about Johnson, R-La. "He is a conservative [who] has shown leadership and is the vice chair right now of our Conference and former chairman of the Republican Study Committee, which is the largest conservative committee within Congress."
She also lauded Johnson for having a "great personality" and said he's "not offensive" but speaks "very articulately with facts and not opinions, so I think he will be a great consensus builder, but I also think he's going to be wonderful, in particular, for my issues, which are border security and excess spending."
She added Johnson also understands what's going on with energy security, and recognizes what's happening with the border, "because it's affecting his community as well as Texas."
She said she appreciates Johnson for his "conservative, constitutional, and legal mind" and as someone who can "very clearly articulate what the issues are without being offensive because it's not based on opinions but based on fact."
