Retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt said on Newsmax, Monday, that the airstrikes launched by the Trump administration against the Houthis in Yemen will be a good thing for the region.
"These are not airstrikes that are being managed from a civilian academic out of the White House," Holt said on "National Report."
Holt said the Navy is using its typical air power strategies to strike against the Yemeni Houthi fighter targets.
"I was very gratified to hear that the very first strikes were on air defense batteries and radars," Holt said. "We typically blind you first, then we move in toward infrastructure that's critical to the enemy logistics and then eventually the leadership itself. Now the military has the full span of its ability. They were just given what the outcome should be."
The strikes will result in 18% of the world’s shipping being opened, Holt said.
"Egypt has to be happy because they were losing $30 million a day through the Suez Canal," Holt said. "My caution is we had a wide-open border for four years and there are terror groups in this country. When the Houthis threaten us, they're not just threatening us in the region. They're threatening us here."
