Brett Favre to Newsmax: Taylor Swift Has Been Good for NFL

By    |   Thursday, 08 February 2024 09:51 PM EST

Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre told Newsmax on Thursday that pop music icon Taylor Swift has been good for the NFL and her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has not proved to be a distraction to him or the team.

"They're in the Super Bowl," Favre told "Eric Bolling The Balance," referring to Sunday's game between the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas. "So, whether or not she is the sole reason for that is up for debate."

USA Today reported Thursday that interest in the Super Bowl is up 169% over last year's game, and Swift reportedly has created a brand value of $331.5 million for the Chiefs and the league.

"I would say from the NFL's perspective, she's certainly been good," Favre said. "Not that they needed any help. I caught a lot of grief several weeks back because I was asked the question if she was a distraction. I said only if they lose."
