Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas "has no concern" about the border or illegal immigration, Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, told Newsmax on Tuesday.
Mayorkas "lied to us with a smile on his face," while testifying in front of Congress, Owens, told "National Report," adding, Mayorkas "has no concern about" illegal immigration.
"This is a very timely topic; I think something that every American should be looking at."
House Republicans are moving forward with plans to impeach Mayorkas, according to CNN, which reports that the House Homeland Security Committee will hold a markup on impeachment articles Tuesday.
"Everybody understands now that every state is a border state," Owen continued. "Everybody understands now what it is to be overwhelmed with a system that's purposely … makes us miserable.
"Democrats have one philosophy to use misery as a political strategy and you're seeing it right in your face at this point, and America will not stand for this," Owens concluded.
"So much is coming at us that we are now in a position of people getting hopeless and they're willing to do anything to just help the government — please help us to get out of this — that's not the American way."
