Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is "one of the most arrogant Cabinet officials" to occupy a position that is so "critically important," and the Biden administration is doing nothing to slow the flow of immigrants, Rep. Claudia Tenney said on Newsmax on Sunday.
"[President Joe Biden] has all the tools to fix this problem," the New York Republican told Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "There's an INS statute, 212 F, that gives him direct power to shut down our border for illegal migrants or anyone crossing. He refuses to do that," she added, referring to the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Tenney added that House Speaker Mike Johnson has pointed out another 64 measures Biden could take, including reversing his own executive orders and regulations that have been enacted by the administrative branch under Mayorkas that "directly caused this catastrophe at the border."
"Why aren't they fixing it?" she said. "Billions of dollars are being cost to the American people."
Meanwhile, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul "just added another $2.4 billion for migrants," said Tenney.
"We're seeing credit cards given to illegal immigrants down in New York City so they can have housing," she said. "They live in exquisite conditions and nice hotels. They have food. They have cellphones. They have everything they need."
This comes at a time when national and financial security are being threatened, said Tenney.
"Yet the Democrats do nothing," said the congresswoman. "All of these solutions are in the hands of Joe Biden or Chuck Schumer, and they're they're just collecting dust."
