Kerik to Newsmax: Poor 'Leadership' the Cause of Crime

By    |   Saturday, 27 January 2024 01:51 PM EST

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik says leadership is the biggest impediment to solving the crime problem in major blue cities.

"When we took over New York City in 1994 with [former Mayor Rudy] Giuliani," Kerik told Newsmax's "Wake Up America" on Saturday, "New York City's crime wave was five times worse than it is today. And over the eight-year period, we dropped the murder rate by 70% — violent crime rate by 65%. It can be done if you have the right leadership."

"The problem is," Kerik adds, "you don't have that kind of leadership, in none of these states, none of these major cities, across the country today."
