Dick Morris to Newsmax: DirecTV Silencing Trump's 'Positive Campaign'

By    |   Saturday, 04 February 2023 12:15 PM EST

AT&T's DirecTV has taken the proverbial approach of a tree falling in an empty forest to try to silence former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, political adviser Dick Morris told Newsmax.

"Trump has waged a tremendously positive campaign," Morris told "Saturday Report," noting Newsmax carries Trump's speeches and Save America rallies live and in their entirety, unlike any other cable news network.

"The listeners of Newsmax on DirecTV wouldn't know that, because DirecTV has shut us off completely, but he's made bold and important proposals about the future."

DirecTV said it was taking the step as a "cost-cutting" – a similar claim made after it deplatformed OAN last year. DirecTV continues to carry 22 liberal news channels, many with low ratings and all get paid hefty license fees. Newsmax was seeking a small fee, as the nation's 4th highest-rated cable news channel.

"He's really been effective, and I think forceful, in articulating his agenda," Morris continued, adding polls after last Saturday's pair of Trump speeches in early primary states New Hampshire and South Carolina – carried live on Newsmax – boosted Trump in 2024 polls against Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"I think it's why he's gone from 3 points ahead of DeSantis to 13, because of this kind of stuff."

The stuff Morris was referring to is the granular policy proposal put forth by Trump, including law-and-order reforms, border security, waging war on Mexican drug cartels to curb the fentanyl crisis, and delivering peace in Ukraine within "24 hours."

Trump is a tough talker, tough fighter, and tough negotiator, which makes him an effective leader on the world stage, according to Morris.

"A kinder, gentler George Patton would never make such short work of Adolf Hitler," Morris said of the World War II general who helped deliver a decision victory over the German Nazis.

"Lindsey Graham said it best: You can't have the achievements without the style that may compel them," Morris added, hearkening back to Graham's impassioned defense of Trump's 2024 campaign against "Ron DeSanctimonious."

Morris said the attacks on the popular GOP governor "gratuitous and not necessary," but they are fun and make noise and headlines throughout the biased media.

"Sometimes when he does name-calling it's funny," Morris said. "It leads me to do some of my own."

Former Trump U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley was Morris' target after reports Haley is going to announce her 2024 GOP presidential primary challenge of Trump on Feb. 15.

"I think this is Nikki Haley Mary," Morris said. "She's so far behind she's drawing a Hail Mary Pass."
