Trump: Border Bill Isn't Designed to Stop Immigration

By    |   Saturday, 27 January 2024 07:30 PM EST

The "so-called border security bill" being sought by President Joe Biden is not designed to stop illegal immigration; it's designed to continue the invasion of the United States while sending "billions of dollars" to Ukraine and other countries, former President Donald Trump said in his Las Vegas campaign rally Saturday.

He further promised the crowd at Big League Dreams sports park in Las Vegas that "within moments of my inauguration, we will begin the largest domestic deportation operation in my life" as the current situation is "not sustainable."

"Ukraine is an interesting case," Trump said during the rally, which aired live on Newsmax and simulcast on the Newsmax2 online streaming platform. "People always want to know my feelings. Number one, we're in for $200 billion-plus, and the European nations are in for $20 billion, and it's more important for them."

He also expressed his doubts that NATO would help the United States if needed.

"Let's say we were attacked," said Trump. "I can tell you country by country who would be there, but I don't believe that they would be there."

But as for the proposed border compromise legislation, which could tie border legislation in with funding for Ukraine, "the monstrosity that we're dealing with is 2 million illegals across the border ... Now that number is changing to maybe eight times that amount. We cannot let this happen to our country."

Trump added that "as the leader of our party, there is zero chance I will support this horrible open borders betrayal of America. It's not going to happen."

He said that it's "OK" that members of the Senate are blaming him for an agreement not being reached, as "they were getting ready to pass a very bad bill."

He noted that House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has also said the bill is dead on arrival.

"The single greatest threat to our country right now is the people pouring into our country because we have no idea who they are," said Trump. "The fact is that if Joe Biden truly wanted to secure the border, he doesn't really need a bill. I didn't need a bill. I did it without a bill. I did it with the current laws. I used the Border Patrol."

Rather than legislation, he added, Biden needs to "reimpose every single border policy" passed during the Trump administration.
