Former President Donald Trump told Newsmax on Sunday that he would never call on a Republican presidential candidate to drop out of the race, but former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley "should."
Citing Trump's polling lead in the Granite State, Newsmax's Mike Carter asked Trump about calling for Haley to drop out. The former president responded, "Well, I would never call for it, but perhaps she should. Maybe she'll drop out on Tuesday; we'll see what happens."
According to FiveThirtyEight's median aggregate polling, as of Sunday, Trump is polling at an approval rating of 49.8%. Haley is polling at 36.1%.
The former president later added in the interview that he doesn't "ask people to drop out; they have to drop out of their own volition."
The New Hampshire GOP primary is slated for Tuesday.
After New Hampshire, the next GOP primary will be held in Nevada on Feb. 6.
Trump adds he'll get "100% of that vote because they didn't register; they had bad poll numbers."
Looking toward the general election in November, Trump said that President Joe Biden is the "worst president in history" and "the most corrupt president in history." By comparison, Trump added that President Jimmy Carter looks "brilliant" compared to Biden.
