Trump: My Mind Is Stronger Than It Was 25 Years Ago

By    |   Sunday, 21 January 2024 12:41 AM EST

Entertaining a lively rally for nearly two hours Saturday night, former President Donald Trump, 77, sought to tell the world that President Joe Biden's age is not the problem, but his incompetence is.

"I feel my mind is stronger now than it was 25 years ago — is that possible?" Trump told supporters in Southern New Hampshire University's packed hockey arena at his rally Saturday night, which aired live and in its entirety on Newsmax and the Newsmax2 streaming platform.

"I really do. Now, Biden can't say that. Look, you know he can't say that. You know there's something going on."

Trump said he "aced" a cognitive test he took last year, like the one he said he took while he was in the White House.

"No, I'll let you know when I go bad," Trump said. "I really think I'll be able to tell you, because someday we go bad."

Trump blasted his GOP primary rivals — Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley — for telling voters to reject his return to the White House because of his age.

"Like Haley, she talks about, Yeah, we don't need an 80-year-old," Trump said, adding in some self-deprecating humor. "Well, I don't mind being 80, but I'm 77. That's a big difference."

Ultimately, age is a number, cognition and a sharp mind are the real test, Trump continued.

"I have one friend who became a very rich man, became a billionaire," he said. "His whole life he didn't do well. He was in a certain business, didn't do well.

"He turned 80. He made a billion dollars between the age of 80 to 90. He made all his money from 80 to 90. They always like to mention age. It's not age, different people, different strokes."

Trump noted multiple times during his on-stage performance Saturday night that it takes a strong speaker with a sharp mind to be president, noting Biden is unable to hold long rallies and give speeches longer than a few minutes.

"But Joe Biden is a threat to democracy for a number of reasons," Trump said. "Take a look at what he's doing with weaponization. What he's doing with the weaponization that we just discussed is terrible, but he's a threat for another reason. Very big. He's grossly incompetent.

"That's the biggest threat that we have to democracy. We're going to end up in World War III with this guy running things."
