New York City Mayor Eric Adams has a partner in the Trump administration to address his city's illegal migrant crisis, Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., told Newsmax.
Speaking to "Saturday Report," Lawler expressed it was a "critically important" step for Adams to sit down with Trump's border czar Tom Homan on Thursday.
"New York sanctuary city policies, along with the right to shelter, has been an absolute disaster for the city and New York state. The state is spending billions of dollars of taxpayer money to provide free housing, clothing, food, education, and health care to illegal immigrants. And then, of course, you see, obviously, the rise in crime precincts in New York City, where, you know, three-quarters of those arrested are migrants."
During Lawler's interview, the congressman emphasized that members of Adams' own party had attacked him for trying to address the migrant crisis. But now, he added, Adams "has a willing partner in the incoming Trump administration."
