Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., told Newsmax on Wednesday that Bill and Hillary Clinton had "very intimate involvement" with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and need to keep their agreement for House testimony.
On "Bianca Across the Nation," Burlison said that "we certainly need to bring Bill and Hillary Clinton in and ask a lot of questions because of their involvement."
The former president and his wife finally acceded to the demand for congressional testimony after being threatened with contempt of Congress for imposing further delays.
The former secretary of state will testify Feb. 26 and her husband the next day.
Burlison said the Clintons had an "intimate" relationship with Epstein in that they were directly involved with his activities.
"With Bill Clinton, for example, there's been three victims that have publicly stated that they had interactions with Bill Clinton," he said.
"One of them is even photographed, giving him a massage. At the end of the day, there's a lot of things."
The lawmaker asserted that Bill Clinton had to know something wasn't right about Epstein's lifestyle.
"He had to have known that something illegal was happening," Burlison said.
He added that the former president may have abused his position of public prominence.
"The fact that he was present gives a chilling effect to any of these victims to coming forward or trying to report their activities with Epstein," Burlison said.
That needs to be scrutinized, he added.
"If anything, his connection was enabling the illegal activity that Epstein was doing at the minimum," the lawmaker said.
Burlison said it was only after being threatened with contempt that the Clintons agreed to come before the House.
"They did not want to do this. It was only when a contempt of Congress vote was on the books, just days away, that they reversed their decision to do it," he said.
"What's unfortunate, when you talk to the victims, they express that the system, the government, let them down. That law enforcement and our Department of Justice really let them down."
Burlison said it is important that the Clintons be open about what they did in connection with Epstein.
"We'll look forward to asking them tough questions. The Clinton Foundation was Jeffrey Epstein's brainchild. That's an intimate level of involvement.
"Even after Epstein was found guilty, there's interactions with the Clintons through [Epstein co-conspirator] Ghislaine Maxwell. There's a lot of connections that we need to get to the bottom of," Burlison said.
Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., said those who question the Clintons should not expect much. He told Newsmax's "National Report" on Wednesday that the two high-profile Democrats will do their best to say as little as possible under oath.
Perry accused the Clintons of "playing" House investigators for the past six months.
