The fake news "scheme" peddled by the Biden campaign to cover for "influence peddling" — backed by a complicit media — has made America weaker and less safe, according to Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., on Newsmax.
"We are so far so much weaker today as America because of the Biden administration, and that's because they lie to us and the media backs up their lies," Johnson told Saturday's "America Right Now," condemning the alleged corruption of the Biden family and the "complicit media."
Among the most damning revelations is the Biden campaign laundering disinformation to reject the Hunter Biden laptop story in the final weeks of the 2020 presidential campaign, falsely claiming it was a Russian scheme when it was a Biden disinformation scheme that Americans bought hook, line, and sinker by leftist media, Johnson told host Tom Basile.
"Well, it certainly was a scheme," Johnson said. "It certainly was election interference. From my standpoint, it is a massive in-kind contribution on the part of those 51 former intelligence agents.
"But we've always known that was crooked. Remember that letter said that the Hunter Biden laptop the FBI had taken possession of in December 2019 — they knew full well that was a real computer, that those emails were accurate. The intelligence committee community had to know that.
"And so the letter said that it had all the earmarks of a Russian information campaign. That letter itself was an information campaign. It had far greater impact on our election in 2020 than anything Russia or China could ever hope to accomplish, and yet they've been given a pass by the mainstream media.
"Now we know this was orchestrated by the Biden campaign. This is a huge scandal, but other [than] Newsmax [and] a few other conservative outlets, I don't see the mainstream media hopping on top of this bombshell story."
The media was desirous of meddling in the 2020 election to overthrow former President Donald Trump, according to Johnson.
"Well, our problem is we have a compliant, a complicit, and corrupt mainstream media — a bunch of radical leftist themselves. They'll continue to cover up for the Bidens," Johnson said. "He's their guy. They installed him as president, a guy who ran his campaign from the basement.
"And so until the mainstream media becomes unbiased, until they hold both sides equally accountable, the vast majority of the American public would be pretty well ignorant of exactly all of this corruption. And so there won't be the public pressure to really provide true accountability.
"So right now, ... one of our biggest problems in this country is the compliant and corrupt radical left media."
Whether the Bidens committed crimes in all this might not matter, Johnson concluded, because it worked to pull the wool over Americans' eyes long enough to defeat Trump, elect Biden, and cover for the "sleazy" family.
"I'm not a attorney; I'm not a prosecutor. What I do know is the Biden family is sleazy," Johnson said. "Their actions are actions of grifters, of conmen and -women, and that's who the American public elected president because the media covered up for them — again that compliant, corrupt, and complicit media."
