Actor Frank Stallone, appearing Tuesday on Newsmax, applauded President Donald Trump's call for a 100% tariff on movies shot outside the U.S.
"I think it's good for the actors. I think it's good for everyone involved," he said on "National Report." "And the people that are complaining probably have ulterior motives."
The actor noted that while California has for years been the focal point of movie and television production, there are plenty of other locations throughout the U.S. that work well to host entertainment productions.
His brother, actor Sylvester Stallone, is joining with two other well-known actors to promote U.S. production of movies and TV shows.
"There's a board put together with John Voight, Mel Gibson, and my brother, and they're very much for keeping the industry within the United States," Frank Stallone said.
He said Trump's idea fits well with his theme of bringing business and jobs back to America.
"We've basically cannibalized our business," Frank Stallone said. "We've outsourced the film business as all our major companies in this country have outsourced our business.
"Hats off to President Trump for really pushing this forward. And I think it'll pay off in spades."
