Rep. Brian Jack, R-Ga., told Newsmax on Thursday he was proud to have made his first House speech hailing former President Jimmy Carter representing his Peach State.
"I gave my first speech on the House floor earlier this morning to honor and commemorate all the time and attention that President Carter paid to my congressional district," Jack, who was sworn into Congress last week, told "National Report."
"I feel a unique connection to President Carter. His daughter is a graduate of the same high school from which I graduated. And during my speech today, I walked through the many memories that he made and crafted within my congressional district."
Jack said Carter would buy his suites in Carroll County and always stop by Chick-fil-A when he visited Muskogee County. He served as the grand marshal of an Independence Day parade in Jack's hometown.
"I was very pleased and honored to have that opportunity to honor his life and the legacy that he leaves across the state of Georgia," Jack said.
