Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Wednesday that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas should be impeached over issues at the southern U.S. border.
Mayorkas recently testified in front of the House Homeland Security Committee, where he was questioned about the Biden administration’s border policies.
"I signed on to a resolution of impeachment for Mayorkas at the beginning of this Congress because every single day, willfully and intentionally, our federal laws [are] being broken at the southern border," Steube told "John Bachman Now." "And now you're starting to see the repercussions of those policies where you have children, the sex slave issue, the trafficking issues.
"All of this is created by the policies of this White House and they have to be stopped. If they genuinely cared about children, then they wouldn't have these open border policies that are enabling the cartels to be able to traffic children across our border every single day."
The Biden administration is reportedly in the midst of preparing for a summer surge at the border, which will coincide with the likely end of COVID-19 restrictions on immigration.
"This administration stays silent while Republicans are trying to work to close the border, to go after cartels, to fix a broken border system, and the White House is obviously gaslighting to try to blame and deflect the blame from anybody other than the people that it deserves," Steube said. "That is the Biden White House."
