The failed Palestinian state in Gaza has been exposed as irresponsibly run and Democrats Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are showing they are "way over their heads" in being the answer for peace, according to former U.S. ambassador to Israel David Friedman on Newsmax.
"It could be worse. I think it could crater even worse, because neither one of these candidates has any sense for the challenges Israel faces, the strategic value that Israel plays in the region," Friedman, the ambassador to Israel under former President Donald Trump, told "America Right Now" about the decline of the Israeli-U.S. relations that started under former President Barack Obama, continued with President Joe Biden's administration, and would reach a crescendo under a prospective Harris-Walz administration.
"They're way over their heads."
Both Harris and Walz place too much faith in terrorist leadership of Gaza and too little trust in Israel as the responsible, peace-loving state in the Middle East, Friedman warned.
"And look, in this part of the world, it's about recognizing good and rewarding good and punishing evil," Friedman told host Tom Basile. "If Tim Walz can't recognize the difference between Israel and Hamas and unequivocally say, 'We stand with Israel, we condemn Hamas and will continue to do that until Hamas is destroyed,' then they don't have a moral compass.
"I don't think either one of them do."
Friedman is author of the new book, "One Jewish State: The Last, Best Hope to Resolve the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict," urging the world to recognize the fact a Muslim can peacefully exist in Israel but a Jew cannot dare to step foot near Gaza without the threat of genocide.
"After Oct. 7, it's plain to see that whether or not you're a believer, you see that the vision God had was the one that had the best outcome for all the inhabitants. I mean, the Palestinian state, which is the mother's milk of the Democratic Party, has failed and failed miserably over more than 50 years; and it has brought this region nothing but misery and violence," Friedman said.
"Gaza was effectively, for all intents and purposes, a Palestinian state. There was no Jews living there — 18 years ago, the Israel evacuated all of its residents from Gaza. There hasn't been an Israeli boot on the ground since before this war started."
Instead of building a responsible, peace-loving nation, according to Friedman, Hamas stole money it was given by liberals — under the guise of humanitarian aid — and built a war machine for Iran's antisemitic goal of wiping Israel off the map.
"And what did the Palestinians do with this land that was given to them, which has a long beachfront along the Mediterranean, western-facing beachfront — the same as the beautiful beaches in Tel Aviv?" Friedman asked. "What do they do with the aid — the billions and billions of dollars given to them by the United Nations; by many countries; by, unfortunately, by our country, the United States, until Trump cut off that money, which Biden turned on? What did they do with the money?
"They built 350 miles of terror tunnels and weapons of mass destruction."
The threat of death and destruction should mean the end of any talk of a two-state solution, and Israel should be given the responsibility for building up a peace-loving Gaza that respects its Muslims in the same way Israel does, Friedman wrote in his book.
