Voters wanted President-elect Donald Trump to drain the swamp, and he is delivering, Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Mich., told Newsmax on Wednesday.
Trump announced he was nominating Linda McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, to lead the Department of Education, an agency he has promised to dismantle.
"President Trump's mandate, especially through the popular vote, is a mandate to drain the bureaucratic swamp," Bergman told "National Report." "The unnecessary expenditures, the unnecessary rules and regulations that slow our economy and steal our freedoms, whether they be legal philosophical about who gets to run your show, you or your family."
Bergman said one of the ways you drain the swamp is by bringing people who are not swamp dwellers.
"But who understand what lives beneath the water," Bergman said. "We're in the beginning of that right now."
