President Donald Trump is putting a stop to things that aren't working in the U.S. military and have no value to future security, including vaccinations and DEI initiatives, Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Mich., said Thursday on Newsmax.
Trump this week vowed to bring back more than 8,000 troops booted for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine, promising them back pay. He also pledged to rebuild the military and avoid unnecessary wars during his term and "said he would sign an order to stop our warriors from being subjected to radical political theories and social experiments while on duty."
"It's a great start," Bergman, a retired three-star lieutenant general in the U.S. Marine Corps, said on "National Report." "It sends the signal that when something isn't working, regardless, in this case, vaccinations in the military, subject to DEI initiatives and training and all that. If something is not working, stop it.
"And President Trump is stopping the things that aren't working, haven't been working for a while and have no value to our future security. Just remember, the military is in place for one reason: to fight and win wars, safety and security. And there's one word that describes it. We have to be lethal. Lethal to the point where our adversaries, potential adversaries say, 'I'm not going to take on the United States military because I know that they're going to kick my backside and I'm going to lose.'
"That's what we have to have. … because we come with one purpose. You engage us, you're going to die."
