House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., told Newsmax on Monday that President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, will likely testify before Congress this week as part of the ongoing probe into the Biden family's business transactions.
Last month, Comer issued subpoenas for Hunter Biden and President Biden's brother, Jim Biden, to testify in a closed-door deposition about their business practices. He and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, later threatened to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress if he does not appear for the meeting.
During an interview with "Wake Up America" on Monday, Comer was asked how he would respond if Hunter Biden refused to testify.
"Well I wouldn't want to be held in contempt if I were Hunter Biden," Comer said. "I mean, he just got indicted again last week, there are clearly more laws that he has broken … the list goes on and on and on."
Comer added that "Jim Biden is in the same boat" as Hunter Biden. "He just didn't receive the press that Hunter Biden received."
Comer said, "I believe Hunter Biden is going to show up, this is going to be a very transparent process. We've already been significantly more transparent than the Democrats ever dreamed of being in their impeachment hearings and their Jan. 6 hearing."
He continued: "So we're doing this by the book, we've accumulated mountains of evidence that show wrongdoing. Now here's an opportunity for Hunter Biden to come forward and set the record straight, if we missed anything, if we're misreading these bank statements that show millions and millions of dollars from our enemies going to the Bidens, then he can set the record straight."
